At Jacobs Printing, we are fully committed to sustainability. We use environmentally friendly inks, obtain part of our energy from solar panels, limit our waste flows to the absolute minimum and recycle raw materials wherever possible. For example, we recently invested in a paper extraction system that automatically collects all paper residues and dust and compresses them on site. This makes recycling more efficient and significantly reduces the number of transport movements. The result? Less waste, fewer emissions and smoother processing of residual materials.
But that is not our only contribution to a sustainable planet. Here is a brief overview.
Efficient recycling thanks to paper extraction system
To further reduce our ecological footprint, we invested in an advanced paper extraction system. This system automatically collects all paper waste, shreds and dust during the production process. The residual materials are compressed on site, making them more compact and therefore more efficient to process. This not only means smoother recycling, but also considerably fewer transport movements. So we produce fewer emissions and less waste, without compromising on quality or speed.
Energy efficiency
We are investing in the future of both our company and our planet by using solar panels. This renewable energy source helps us meet our energy needs in an environmentally friendly way, significantly reducing our CO2 emissions.
Electric mobility and our own charging infrastructure
We are actively investing in the electrification of our vehicle fleet. We have installed our own charging stations on our premises, allowing us to easily charge electric vehicles. By switching to electric driving step by step, we are reducing our CO₂ emissions year by year. In this way, we contribute to cleaner air and a healthier living environment.
Energy efficient lighting
In our print shop we let in optimal daylight, in addition we exclusively use energy-efficient LED lighting. This modern technology consumes significantly less power than traditional lighting, reducing our carbon footprint. Moreover, it provides pleasant, warm ambient light in which our team can work comfortably. Thus, we combine energy efficiency with the well-being of our employees.
Healthy breaks for a healthy team
A sustainable business is not only about the environment, but also about the people who work there. That's why we provide a fresh fruit basket for all our employees every week. This healthy snack in the workplace stimulates vitality, increases energy and contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Because a healthy mind in a healthy body starts with good nutrition.
Waste management
Although we make every effort to keep our waste streams to a minimum, we still cannot completely avoid it as a printing company. That is why we pay due attention to thoughtful waste management. We separate and recycle our waste wherever possible, and strive to reduce it continuously.
Filtered water without waste
Our water fountain provides all employees with filtered and chilled tap water of mineral water quality. This way, no one has to use plastic bottles anymore and we avoid a considerable amount of waste. It is not only good for the environment, but also for your health: water remains the most natural and refreshing thirst-quencher.
Efficient and environmentally friendly packaging
We aim to keep our packaging as compact as possible to minimise the amount of air transported. Where filling material is needed, we use Ranpak: a 100% recycled and recyclable paper product. In this way, we avoid using plastic and reduce the impact of transport on the environment.
Green energy
The energy we do not generate ourselves, we buy green. We consciously choose suppliers who exclusively use renewable energy sources such as sun, wind and hydropower. In this way, we guarantee that every step in our production process is powered by renewable energy.
Efficient Logistics
Wherever possible, we try to combine deliveries. This not only lowers the environmental impact of our transport, but also helps to reduce costs. By planning smartly and efficiently, we ensure a more sustainable and cost-effective logistics solution.
Eco-friendly inks
Our choice of ink plays a crucial role in our sustainable approach. We only use eco-friendly inks that contain fewer harmful substances, such as inks based on renewable raw materials, and contribute to a cleaner production process. This not only helps protect the environment, but also ensures a safer working environment and makes paper recycling easier.
Recycling of ink cartridges
In our production, ink toners, cartouches and cartridges are carefully collected for recycling. This gives valuable raw materials a second life and avoids unnecessary waste. By bringing these materials back into circulation, we close the chain and contribute to a circular economy.
